Autumn Blues

I love autumn. As a season, it just has it all. Pretty colors, figure hiding sweaters, crisp (not frigid) air, and lots of apples for homemade applesauce.

This year, however, I am so sad to say goodbye to summer. I think it is because I finally have a kid and see the world through a smaller person's eyes again. Today we walked up to the pool area of the apartment complex that we live in. Packer was babbling to me in his sweet little voice about Lord knows what, but it was nice to hear all the same. Suddenly, he stopped cold and looked at the pool. It was covered for winter.

I then started to tick off in my head all the fun things that we had done this summer that we wouldn't be able to do now. Swimming, popsicles, camping, frolicking through meadows is kind of on it's way out. It just gave me a moment's pause to welcoming my beloved fall. So here is our sweet send off to summer:

April come she will
When streams are ripe and swelled with rain;
May, she will stay,
Resting in my arms again

June, she´ll change her tune,
In restless walks she´ll prowl the night;
July, she will fly
And give no warning to her flight.

August, die she must,
The autumn winds blow chilly and cold;
September I´ll remember.
A love once new has now grown old.

Overall, it has been a wonderful summer -- so here is to remembering in September, and looking forward to a wonderful fun filled fall!

Good Show to Watch: Derek -- I am fairly leary of Netflix Original Series. They are like HBO Original Series, super dirty and gross. However, while Derek does have a bit of language, it it fantastic. The story centers around a nursing home in England. More serious than funny and very touching.

  1. When school was about to start I kind of freaked out that summer was ending, but now I'm super excited for fall!
